LOCAL CATCH is a Woy Woy Fishermen's Wharf initiative aimed at giving the public the chance to support sustainable seafood. Australia is a world leader in sustainable practices for seafood however over 70% of our locally caught and farmed product is shipped overseas. This means that most seafood available to the consumer is imported from sources that we have no control over regarding fishing or farming practices. This imported product is appealing because of the low prices and decent quality.
At WWFW we are offering a service that will aim to bring peace of mind to those who care about sustainable fishing & aqua culture practices. LOCAL CATCH will be a weekly service offering customers a seafood pack that will contain a rotating selection of seafood that comes from sustainable sources from the local area, NSW, around Australia and New Zealand. We will focus on offering the highest quality seafood that is available to us at that particular time.
Every week customers can purchase a $60 pack or $120 pack. In this pack will be ready to cook fillets, steaks, cutlets etc... of the best locally caught or farmed sustainable seafood. The seafood pack can be picked up from us either on the weekend or an agreed day during the week. As we know every Aussie loves to bring seafood to a BBQ we will offer HOME or BBQ packs:
The HOME packs will contain food designed for cooking at home for family or friends and will centre on seafood that is good for baking, grilling or home frying.
* The $60 HOME pack will contain up to 2 serves of seafood for roughly 4 people.
* The $120 HOME pack will contain up to 4 serves of seafood for roughly 4 people.
The BBQ packs will contain food designed for sharing with friends at a party or at home entertaining. The seafood will be geared towards what works best on BBQs and what is best shared sitting around like prawns, osyters etc...
* The $60 BBQ pack will contain up to 2 serves of seafood for roughly 4 people.
* The $120 BBQ pack will contain up to 4 serves of seafood for roughly 4 people.
Everyone that signs up for the program will receive weekly newsletters with info regarding the seafood that is in the packs. It will detail where it comes from and a bit about the fishing/farming process.
Each pack will come with recipe ideas from us and our favourite chefs and cooks. We will also send out videos with cooking and handling demonstrations.
As the aim of the program is raise awareness about sustainable product we will be selecting the seafood each week for the packs. However if you are allergic to any types of seafood please let us know when you sign up and we will make sure as to not give you anything in your packs that may affect your allergy.
